Luke Lamprecht describes adults as “duty bearers” of children’s rights. To reach optimal development, it is argued that a child’s environment, access to basic needs and nurture is imperative. Once society and professionals understand the basis of South African legislation pertaining to children’s rights, such as Section 28 and the UNCRC, it will improve the developmental stages of a child’s life.
This talk offers insight into children’s rights. It gives a brief overview of Section 28, offers advice around issues when children are in conflict with the law, and provides a holistic view of children’s rights.
