I am a private practicing social worker working therapeutically with children and families using mostly child-centred and Gestalt play therapy modalities. I have been in private practice since 2018, working in a multi-disciplinary team of child therapy professionals. This, as well as my previous experience working within the child protection space, has cultivated skills of teamwork and collaborative practice that sets me up well to support children and families in the therapeutic space. My professional training and alignment, as well as my dedication to upholding the uniqueness, inherent worth, and healing capacity of the client systems with whom I work, allows me to work with children and families to empower them, strengthen them, and ultimately see healing and growth in their lives. I hold a Master’s degree in Developmental and Therapeutic Play (with Distinction) from Swansea University and a B Social Work Cum Laude from Stellenbosch University. My therapeutic work focuses on supporting children aged 3–18 through play-based interventions that foster emotional expression, resilience, and healthy coping strategies. I also offer parent support as part of a holistic approach to family wellness. Earlier in my career, I worked with Christian Social Services in Durban in the child protection field, where I was involved in early intervention, family preservation, foster care support, and statutory services. I have also contributed to international academic work, including the publication of a book chapter on play in South African preschools. I have experience in the presentation of corporate wellness talks and engaged in radio interviews as a part of the Kids Dialogue team and in 2024 began presenting trainings, accredited by the SACSSP for CPD points for social workers on foundational principles of Child Centred Play Therapy. I am fluent in English, speak Afrikaans well, and am registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP: 10-35323).
