This talk looks at the similarities in presentation of different types of Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). It identifies similar and different characteristics and the process of differential diagnosis. It looks briefly at treatment principles for both disorders within an Occupational Therapy framework and provides further case study examples to link content to every-day practice.
This talk will help professionals in allied health and education make informed choices about referral options for children presenting with symptoms of possible ADHD or SPD. It will guide thought processes of those helping children with specific areas of difficulty to succeed, and support them in the most impactful ways in therapy, at home and in the classroom.
