ADHD & Impulse Control Disorders

CPD points & talks · Psychologists

Impulsivity is more than a symptom - it is a diagnostic hallmark that cuts across ADHD, borderline personality disorder, substance use, binge eating, and other impulse-control disorders. In this talk, Dr. Julie Wehb explores the neurobiological and psychological underpinnings of impulsivity, highlighting how deficits in attention, response inhibition, and reward processing intersect with ADHD.

Drawing on the latest clinical research, Dr. Wehbe will unpack how impulsivity is defined and classified, its role in the development of maladaptive behaviours, and the overlapping brain networks shared by ADHD, BPD, and substance use disorders. Users will also gain practical insights into validated diagnostic tools and evidence-based interventions including CBT, DBT, EMDR, and innovative therapies such as VR cue exposure
