Reconsidering Freud's Drive Theory

This video gives an overview of Freud’s drive theory and basic Freudian concepts as well as subsequent psychoanalytic ideas. Prof. Mark Solms unpacks feelings, and how these emerge in us. He talks about the basic human needs, and the feelings that come out of these needs. He explains concepts such as the pleasure principle, life and death drives, homeostasis and how these all interact in order to meet our needs. Prof. Mark Solms has a gift of putting forward very complex ideas in an accessible and practical way and this series of talks is useful for beginners and experienced psychotherapists.
