Shelley is a Trauma expert based in the UK. An accredited EMDR Consultant and training facilitator, BABCP accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapist (CBT) and Registered Mental Health Nurse (RNMH). Shelley has also completed a MSc in CBT Research at the University of Oxford. 

Shelley is the founder of Fortitude Psychological Therapy, an independent trauma therapy practice. Offering therapy, supervision and teaching, for people who want to learn how to navigate trauma. Shelley also created the The Trauma Toolbox, an online platform of blogs, resources, client courses and training materials. She is a guest lecturer and supervisor on Trauma and Personality Disorder courses for the University of Oxford and a published author and public speaker. Shelley is passionate about understanding trauma from the perspective of survivors, putting authenticity, compassion and healing at the heart of everything. 

Having worked in mental health for since 2003, Shelley’s initial training and career in mental health began in 2003 and she has experience in the NHS, Private Sector and Ministry of Defence. Shelley served 14 years in the Armed Forces working in Defence Mental Health Services, delivering mental healthcare to personnel in the firm base and on combat operations in Afghanistan. Her clinical and supervisory work offers a patient focussed integrated approach incorporating EMDR, Beckian CBT and Compassion Focussed Therapy.
